    romotional booklet for Gearhart's 1908 Family Knitter machine, one of Gearhart's earliest knitting machines. The device would be clamped to a tabletop and hand cranked as yarn fed from above, the cylinder would rotate knitting a tube. This allowed infant hosiery or socks to be made much more easily and much quicker than with knitting needles.
