The cards themselves never expire but the companies, including the one I deal with, sets the warranty period in which the company no longer supports the card after stated period and balances become highly volatile after warranty period. My supplier sets the warranty at 30 days and cards do become highly volatile after the 30 days. The only downsides to discount cards are they have to be used within stated warranty and there is always a chance that balances can evaporate at any time but rarely happens during the warranty period.
